Safe Water, Bright Futures

Safe Water, Bright Futures

Hello!
I’m Caroline Nguyen, an 8th grader from California. As a young girl, my parents often took me on mission trips to Vietnam alongside my dad’s Organization to help bring clean water to schools. I remember visiting schools where the children would cup their hands under a rusty spout just to get a sip of water. It was the only source they had. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the risks they were taking just by drinking it, and I never truly understood the importance of clean water, especially in places like Vietnam where it is a huge issue. As I grew older I started to question myself, “How come I get to live with a basic right of life; clean water, whilst a kid just like me across the world doesn’t get to pursue the same opportunities I can because they don’t know if they will survive yet another day without safe water?” This inspired me to start my own fundraiser where I will raise money for the children in need of clean water. All funds collected will go toward a mission trip I’m joining viet dreams organization on, where we’ll be helping children in Vietnam this summer and beyond. As the little girl I was, I didn’t understand what I was witnessing. But now that I know, I have a responsibility—to speak, to act, and to hope that one day, clean water won’t be a privilege, but a right for every child.
